Andrew Cooke (Cookie to his mates) lives in Dundonald, a suburb of Belfast, Northern Ireland. His dad ran a stock car track back in the 70's, so he has been around cars most of his life. At the age of 12, he used to drive his first car, a Minor, up and down the driveway. He painted painted flames on it and dreamed it was a hot rod. Then his dad helped him fix up an old Mini, showed him how to weld and paint. The rest they say is history.
This particular car was given to Andrew by a friend who was going to work in Africa. She was in a bad way (the car, not the friend), so he cut out the complete floor pan and replaced it with one from a Volvo 240 which was shortend by 2 feet and narrowed by 5 inches at the front (sounds easy!). This means he has used the Volvo axles, brakes and steering.
The engine is a Rover 3.5 V8 which so far he has been able to leave standard. The body has seen a lot of work though
And as with most projects he's always improving things.... (aren't we all?)
