Morris Minor & The Majors

Stutter Rap (No Sleep 'til Bedtime)

This song parodied the Beastie Boys, who were making their noise in the late 1980s. It reached #4 in the UK in January 1988. Lead singer Tony Hawks, aka Grand Master Jellytot, has played a number of roles in the space comedy TV program 'Red Dwarf' - a lisping food dispenser and a suitcase. The band character, Morris Minor, is a reference to the Beastie Boys' use of Volkswagen 'VW' logos as pendants (which sparked a spate of thefts of the logos from cars across the UK). The Majors consisted of Phil Errup and Rusty Wing - again, both car parodies. They also had a second single, 'Here Comes The Chorus', which flopped.

If you'd like to hear the song for yourself here it is but be warned it has nothing to do with Minors and is a very bad/corny rap song about a rap singer who stutters :)

Thanks to Pete & Paolo Marchiori for helping me find the mp3.
