Not really The Model Y has a supercharged small block ford in it and run 11.6 @117 - scary given the wind. The black Pop has a 502 in it and is a 10 second car, but it was the new owners first outing, so didn't go for it (naturally). The 32 did 11.3 Just checked my times - 1 run (against the Camaro) was 14.7 @ 95 - best yet Pete

Well done James. I couldn't really sell my MM after 37 years though - even though I've lost a bit of motivation What's your plan now then?

Maybe a downgrade to a MM series. Won't get into trouble doing skids with a sidevalve!
It's odd to sell a car that you've invested a lot into, particular a modified one. You wonder how the new owner will cope with all the tricky bits. Last I heard, the Ladybird car w/4AGE I sold in Seattle was laid up with a front suspension collapse. I haven't been keen on contacting the owner for a 3 years or so now, as it might be too depressing.
Pete - I was mainly having a poke at the small body sizes. I don't think I'd like to drive a Pop with 502 inches very fast either. I saw one at the last beach hop that had one of those huge (wide) quad-cam injected late model Lincoln engines squeezed in.
Today's efforts - gassed up the Merc, topped up the trans, and tinkered with the mechanical voltage regulator before our run up to the Beach Hop for the weekend.

I thought you were talking about the car sizes, but the Y does look particularly small - especially from behind. It is totally mint with the best of everything, and surprises loads of folk - his 11.6 was with him backing off at the line, and it is a mild state of tune - he's thinking of upping the boost.

Today I collected the clear roofing material for my car port. Will be constructed tomorrow all going well. It's still blowing a gale here, and a bit chilly although it is still sunny. I've decided to sell Bessie, so the ads are on the various Minor sites. I had a problem trying to get it on here, so will try later.

got my front wing painted today took old one off and didnt find as much rust as i was expecting! there was even some metal. WOW! dismantled front bumper while it was off to give it a good overhaul coz it was a bit tatty. got the chrome bit re-chromed (thru my dads work - useful!) so when that's done it'll be good as new! did a bit more to the hutch too. my hands and in tatters tho. the price of hard work!

Been at the Beach Hop Here's a link to some pix (not mine). Not much exciting in the Morris line, a couple I had seen in previous years. Had a good time out and about in the Merc convertible though. I've also ordered an exhaust tube donut and a couple of bends so I can get on with the intercooler plumbing on the Minor. http://www.nz-hotrod.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=3768 T>

Planted some strawberrys, potatoes, peas and other bits and bobs with my daughters yesterday, only to wake up to frost this morning. Doh! Had a quick look - strawberry plants seem ok thankfully. Other bits and bobs are underground. Car wise nowt - still got to fix the speedo. Charged the battery and fixed the clutch cable (reattached end) - goes backwards and forwards again, just doesn't tell you how fast. MOT expired so need to fix before I can get back on the road again

No one done anything for 2 days?
I got my exhaust tube donut and a couple of bends, so I've cut the donut up and tried to work out how the frun the various pipes - AFM (mounted on inner guard) to turbo inlet, turbo outlet to intercooler (incl transition from 1.5" to 2.5"), and intercooler to throttle body while avoiding radiator hoses, inner guards and bonnet. Could be tricky!

At last I got someone interested in Bessie. I had mentioned on the advert that it had a slight oil leak, and this concerned the lady in question a bit, so I investigated further, and found it was coming from the head gasket (at front near oil hole). Everything is now dismantled (30 mins) and I am waiting for a new gasket today. I found that there is no bore wear, and very little carbon, so will get it running today. I also painted the 5 original wheels the correct body colour. I hope she buys it, but not too bothered if she doesn't. The market for Minors must be dead, as I am selling at a really low price for the condition. Still, this always happens to me. Incidentally, she is coming from Portsmouth - only 500 miles away.
