electrical problems

i bought a new coil for our morry. fitted it and at the same time put in a new set of points and a condenser . i have power at the coil and at the lead to the coil but no power at the points etc. its a motor thats been rebuilt and not started . its driving me craaaaazy . can anyone help.

As strange as it may sound, it may be the new condenser. I fitted one recently, along with plugs and points. The motor would not start. put the old condenser back on and vroom.

yeah, i tried  the old condenser , as soon as i connect the wire from the coil to the dissy the power seems to stop at the neg side of the coil.

If the points are closed (grounding the coil) you won't measure any voltage across them. Try rotating the engine while you a meter connected to the CB terminal on the coil - should got between 12v and 0v as the points open and close.

Another way of checking, with the ignition on, open the points with a small screwdriver - you should get a spark from the HT end of the coil (connect it to a grounded sparkplug).

If this doesn't work then there is probably a break in the LT wiring somewhere, either from the coil to the dizzy, or the grounding wire inside the dizzy. Disconnect these and check for continuity.

thanks,guys for all of your help, will be trying all of the above today. hope to get it running this arvo .morry mike. p.s would anyone like to see what we did to our morry.
