Well, at last there's some movement on my MM project. My mate was down today and we discussed the build. This is as follows: Engine - Ford 351 Cleveland Box - Ford C6 Front Suspension - lower wishbone with strut coil over Rear Suspension - 4 bar with panhard rod on 9inch Ford narrowed to 42 inches flange to flange. Wheels - Centreline Autodrag, 31/2 x 15 and 10 x 15 Chassis - box section with round tube and integral cage Interior - original dash, 2 seats and little else Body - original with pro street look - wheels within wings with wheeltubs in rear - lowered to just above scrub line and new floor to suit. Paint - probably Kingfisher Blue Project is scheduled to start in 2 weeks, so I have to extricate shell from garage, remove glass and transport to him. I'll post photos as things develop.

Sounds like it will be scary. The C6 is a big heavy transmission. I have one in my 2 ton Lincoln. In such a small car a C4 would be fine I would be think. I guess you already have the C6?

I've already gathered together all the bits and pieces. I had a 302 with C4, but got the chance of a complete Mach 1 Mustang with 351c and box, so have gone down this route. 351c is quite a rare engine here and I would rather use this than a small block chevy - like to be different. I'll give it a mild tune (headers, cam, heads etc) once I get it on the road as obviously it won't have enough power!!! I know it won't handle too well, but it's only really for going in a staight line and posing. I've got the Rover engined minor for general road work. Cheers

Well I guess you will end up with a real short driveshaft then! Here's some pics of someone else's Ford V8 Morris C4 going in... Engine to go... (its a 289 Ford I think) Action T.

I've cut out a bit more of the engine bay than that guy. 351 is not much bigger than 289, but agree that box is a bit bigger. I've already had my 302 and C4 in car and there was loads of room, so prop shouldn't be to bad with C6. I'd post photos, but can't find them at present.
Cheers

Heh, yeah that is a good look. Something for you to aim for in the future perhaps? I once saw a Minor done up as a rollover car at a speedway somewhere. It had an external ball-like rollcage, and I guess they had done something to the suspension to get it to tip over easy. IIRC there was an A35 as well that "got over" easier.
I think there is room for more novelty Morrises. Another I'd like to try is flipping a steering rack over to make a "LHD" paddock car. Needs two drivers, and the steering is reversed of course. Hmmm.
Plastic O, I'm just in the process of filling up the huge hole carved into the firewall and floor in my project. Made part of the new trans tunnel last week, and have lots of bits of cardboard stuck together to work out the next stage.

Did the roll over car look something like this? This used to belong to Brian Parkes of Perth WA way back in the seventies. Tom

Hi Tom
Yes, thats the kind of thing.
It looks like that one has been "over" a fair few times. Did you ever get to drive?

T No, never new Brian back then. It was around the time I was getting married so cars took a back seat for a while. In my younger days we used to to play around with bush buggies made from Triumph Herald chassis's. When I think back to all the great little convertibles I hacked up just for a bit of fun. Still we all have those stories, don't we?

I am curious what changes were made to the steering rack? I've already gathered together all the bits and pieces. Was busy on Saturday collecting all my stuff for starting the build - wheels, dash, strip windows out, wiper mechanism, headlining etc. I'm now ready to load onto mates pickup on Tuesday and deliver to my friend to start constructing the chassis. Engine, box, axle and suspension is already with him. Must admit the shell is a bit on the rough side, but nothing a bit of TLC won't sort. It is more sentimental value as I've had it 33 years - so here starts emptying the wallet!!! Front view Chassis was done approx 15 years ago, but never fully completed - 'kids and work' Rear View Interior? shot Wheels - Centrelines Dash - cut out another series 2 10 years ago. My dash was surgically removed by previous owner, but a nice Jowett Javelin dash had been fitted in place of - was really nice though. Dash stipped to bare for welding in.

I think that would make a good caption competition pic.
"At least you cut out all the rust"
"Damn theives, you can't leave anything outside for 5 minutes these days"
"You want it back next friday?"
"Pass me the hacksaw, I can see something you missed"
Lots of work to come I see.

Big Ian is a traffic police officer, so this look is his standard expression!!!
Yes there is loads of work to do, and I will post all pictures of work in hand. Feel free to use photos for any caption you wish. Don't think I'll get a young lady to pose with it for a while though, but my dog showed interest, and some young kids laughed at it in the back of mates pickup!!
