Her looks belie her performance on the road, as she looks pretty much standard. Paul James has fitted a mildly tuned A+ engine (Morris Ital, Marina) with electronic ignition, and a tubular steel exhaust manifold connected to a stainless exhaust. There's an Austin Allegro radiator with electric cooling fan in front and Morris Ital front disc brakes. A Ford Cortina Mk3 front anti-roll bar helps keep it flat and rear crossmember-mounted telescopic shocks keep the tyres on the road. All suspension bushes have been replaced with polyurethane. The front torsion bars have been replaced with uprated units (from a Marina?) and the stance has been lowered by adjusting the torsion bars up a couple of splines.
These changes are not hard to do - even the engine swap is relatively straight-forward - but when you put them all together it transforms the handling and performance of a Minor. Paul says it goes really well round the twisty bits and scares the hell out of unsuspecting passengers!
Inside the only change is a couple of retro gauges.
Paul's Minor is a great example of how to transform your Minor into one that can be used with confidence in everyday high-speed traffic.
