Yankee Street Fighter

Bastardised Rating: 9

Dave Marshall's Minor is a 1961 pickup with a small-block Chevy V8 with balanced assembly, 10.5 to one compression ratio Keith Black pistons, Edelbrock tunnel ram with Holley 450cfm carbs and a 150bhp nitrous system. The trans is a T.C.I. Street Fighter with a 3500rpm stall converter.

The Ford 9" rear end is narrowed to 32" wide with 4.11 track loc. The wheels are American Torque Thrust II's, 15"x15" on the rear and 15"

The chassis is custom built from Alston Chassis Works and is 2"x3" tubing with Halcraft coilover suspension on the front and rear. The 10 point roll cage was custom made by Fuller Fabrications from 1.5" tubing. Body modifications consist of lengthening the cab 6", welding the cab and bed together to form a unit body, installing wheel tubs for the rear tyres and an all aluminum floorpan and bed sheetmetal. The 10 gallon fuel cell is mounted in the bed along with the battery and nitrous system leaving just enough room for a small ice chest with a 12 pack of Coronas or a 6 pack of Fosters.

Future plans are for a one piece tilt fibreglass front end and a wing for the rear similar to a Top Fueler dragster. The interior is fitted with Kirkey Racing bucket seats, Simpson safety harnesses and and a 5" monster tach from Autometer. The guages are Stewart Warner from Moon Industries. The chassis will be powder coated yellow to match the final color of the truck.
